Vincent Connelly
Vincent Connelly was born and
raised in Clydebank, Scotland and resided for several years in
London where he frequently visited the Tate Gallery. Here he observed
the work of JW Turner, who was an early influence and provided
his visual art lessons. Vincent later came to the US, studied
at SUNY New Paltz for a short time and later studied with Wolf
Kahn at the National Academy. Alex Martin, a SUNY New Paltz professor,
whom he befriended, has also influenced many of his large sky
works.
Connelly, as evident in his
pastels, is no stranger to the mist. Having grown up in Scotland
and resided in the Hudson Valley New York since the early 1970's,
the early morning mist has provided the inspiration for many of
his works. Vincent Connelly continues to reside in the Hudson
Valley with his wife Mary of 30 years and their three wonderful
children.
